Black hair was the only thing you could see along the edge of the thick covers.
Buried somewhere in the depths of the sheets was a very sleep deprived Sirius
Black. He lay sprawled out, arms and legs flailing in opposite directions
beneath the sheets. Mrs. Potter had yelled for him to wake up an hour ago, but
he hadn't stirred at all. Instead, he lay there practically comatose, his head
buried in the fluffy white pillow that smelled of his shampoo.

He had made this tiny guest bedroom his own at the start of the summer. While it
had been relatively clean when he had arrived, his things were now strewn all
over the
place. Magic books, quills, letters from Remus and Peter, his broom. He hadn't
wasted even one second cleaning the place. It felt like home now and not just a
room in the Potter house that James had chosen for him to stay in. It was his
home...

Finally, as if realizing that he did, in fact, have to get up, Sirius shifted
and coiled beneath the covers. Emitting a loud, guttural yawn, he pushed himself
over and rolled onto his back.
It took a second for his eyes to flicker open and stare blankly up at the high
ceiling.

Rubbing at his sleepy eyes before stretching and looking around, his eyes
drifted to a tray of breakfast on a table in the far corner and a jacket that he
was sure didn't belong to him. James. He was sure he had come in at some point,
but hadn't waken him up. Good lad! He wasn't sure he'd been able to resist
pummeling his friends face in if he had woken him up before he was ready.

Drawn toward the food, Sirius yanked back the covers and rolled out of the bed.
Padding his way over to the table, he took a seat and attacked the slices of
bacon on the plate.

"You're finally awake I see."

Sirius looked up and smiled. "Yes, finally."

The old man grinned and leaned against the door frame. "James has been bursting
at the seams waiting for you to wake up I'm afraid. He wants to go into Diagon
Alley before you have to catch the train."

Train. Train? Wait, what? Sirius' large brown eyes widened. Today was the first
day of classes. How could he have forgotten that? He got up and rushed to grab
his watch. 7:30.

"You're not late, but you will be." Mr. Potter laughed. "Come on my boy. Eat up
and start packing. You have a long year ahead of you."

With a tiny nod, he continued down the hall. Sirius raked his hands through his
hair and sighed. So much for being lazy all day. Where had the time gone? In a
matter of minutes he was dressed and ready to begin another fantastic year at
Hogwarts.
